Grey’s Anatomy season 14 spoilers: Geena Davis returning close to finale

Megan HuntHow about this for some intriguing Grey’s Anatomy season 14 news? As we get near the finale, Geena Davis is going to be making a return appearance!

It’s been a few years since the former Commander in Chief star appeared on the ABC show as Dr. Herman, but it does seem as though there is an important reason why she is stopping by in the penultimate episode entitled “Cold As Ice.” Per Deadline, the story of this episode revolves around a doctor who is “seriously injured, making the team reflect on what is truly important to them. Meanwhile, Dr. Herman pays a visit to Grey Sloan and talks to Arizona about an exciting opportunity.”

Based on how this sounds, the good news is that it’s probably now Arizona who is seriously injured. However, that doesn’t rule out the possibility that it could be April. Given Sarah Drew is also leaving the series in the finale, the producers do need to figure out ways to properly write out these two characters and we absolutely don’t want it to come about at the last minute. Setting up the departures at least one episode before the finale makes a little more sense so that nobody is blindsided when the final episode airs.

Even with that said, though, seeing two characters this beloved leave the show is going to be very difficult no matter when their departures are teased on the show. Grey’s Anatomy is a show that relies heavily on the comfort-food factor, mostly in that you love the show and also love the characters who are a part of it. You like seeing familiar faces over the years and not having these two around anymore is going to be a challenge. Hopefully, if April is in danger she finds a way to recover and get on the other side.
