Empire season 4 episode 14 preview: Lucious, Thirsty fight back

There is a part of Empire season 4 episode 14 that is going to feel a little bit familiar. After all, at the forefront of this story is going to be watching Lucious Lyon do everything within his power to retain his power — and by association, his company. One of things that different is who is working with him, and then beyond that also understanding the journey that has brought him to this point. In terms of circumstance Empire is a far different show, and we certainly do hope, as well, that Lucious understands more of who he is and what he’s been through than he did.

Beyond just a possible corporate takeover, though Empire season 4 episode 14 has a lot to offer in between an appearance from Alfre Woodard and then also Jamal doing what he can to create some distance for himself as an artist. Many people out there would beg to be a part of Empire but it’s obviously different for someone like him. He wants to strive, understandably so, for something that is so much more than the person that he’s been. Hopefully, over the course of this season we will start to see the fruits to some of his labor.

Lucious and Thirsty try to squash Eddie’s (guest star Forest Whitaker) takeover by confronting him with legal papers. Cookie recalls her complex relationship with her mother (guest star Alfre Woodard), while she continues her search for her friend’s orphaned daughter. Meanwhile, Andre flounders, Hakeem anxiously prepares a release strategy for his 20 for 20 single and Jamal and Tory try to find a new team to make their own first non-Empire single in the all-new “False Face” episode of EMPIRE airing Wednesday, April 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

In terms of story surprises, the Lucious / Eddie battle is probably the main event for us within this episode. However, when it comes to emotional moments and big performances, there’s nothing that intrigues us more than getting an opportunity to see Cookie’s relationship with her mother unfold.
