Station 19 season 2 renewal evidence is mounting at ABC
For starters, the ratings have been solid almost week-to-week. While it’s not drawing the figures of Grey’s Anatomy, it wasn’t really expected to. We’re mostly curious to see how it does next season after a summer worth of watching and streaming. This has helped many other Shonda Rhimes series, including Scandal, after their premiere.
Beyond just that, the cast of Station 19 has been booked to face off against Grey’s Anatomy on Celebrity Family Feud coming soon. Beyond that, Station 19 is also going to be a part of the ATX Television Festival. Do you make these moves if you are concerned as to whether or not the series is going to be coming back for more episodes?
From the jump, we feel like ABC was hoping to renew Station 19 for a second season. One of the only reasons why this show didn’t premiere earlier this fall was probably because there wasn’t a spot for it on the #TGIT schedule. Beyond that, it was developed so quickly at first that they would’ve had to really rush to throw that out there. It needed time to develop and it now has that. With Scandal going off the air Thursday, the network is now in a position where Station 19, Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder can be the #TGIT lineup for some time to come. We don’t know how many more years How to Get Away with Murder has left, but we hope that it’ll be around for at least another couple of years.
