Mad About You revival: Helen Hunt, Paul Reiser close deals

Mad About You revival

While it’s not 100% official as of yet, all signs do point towards the Mad About You revival coming to fruition in the future.

According to a new report coming in right now via Deadline, both Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser have each closed deals in order to return to the series that helped launch their careers in the 1990’s. This show was a huge hit on NBC when it ran from 1992 until 1997, but one of the more notable things right now is that this is actually being developed right now strictly by studio Sony Pictures TV and no network is currently attached.

Now that the two stars are on board, though, the process of getting networks on board may be next. It feels as though the most-likely suitor here is NBC just because of the history that already exists there. That’s where it can be marketed in a way that feels familiar and it could be paired with another big sitcom in Will & Grace. NBC and Sony do also have a really great relationship thanks to a number of different series that they’ve collaborated on over the years, both in terms of comedies and dramas.

As for another possible contender, you really don’t have to look any further in this instance than CBS. Remember that this network has a Murphy Brown revival that they are plotting out and we do think that these two shows would pair really well together in terms of their audience. Meanwhile, ABC has Roseanne, and that’s probably the best lead-in that Mad About You can hope for.

Really, though, the success of Roseanne is probably going to cause a little bit more hype surrounding Mad About You than it would have otherwise. Networks right now ant money and it’s pretty darn clear that these shows are raking it in.

Would you watch a Mad About You revival if the project ends up actually being greenlit? Be sure to share right now in the comments!
