Quick Hits: Claws season 2 trailer, Broad City ending; Silicon Valley, Barry renewed

There are a few different stories worth discussing within this latest edition of our CarterMatt TV Quick Hits, but let’s kick things off with something visual: The first Claws season 2 trailer!

This trailer (which you can see at the bottom of this article) offers up the promise of all sorts of crazy stuff coming up for Desna and the rest of her employees now that they are immersing themselves further within the criminal world. Uncle Daddy is still out there, and the same can be said for the large assortment of other bad guys. At some point this season, it seems as though Desna will be eager to take on the Russians … though there’s a good chance that this turns out to be a rather-terrible idea when the dust settles.

Claws season 2 officially premieres on Sunday, June 10 — given how much of a success season 1 was for TNT, we’re sure that the network has some high hopes.

As for some other CarterMatt news of the day…

Silicon Valley, Barry renewed by HBO

This shouldn’t come as a shock, but the long-running Mike Judge comedy is coming back alongside the newcomer, which features Bill Hader as a hitman / actor. It’s a great one-two punch and based on that alone, we’re more than thrilled to see that the two are remaining part of the primetime lineup for some time to come.

In a statement, HBO executive vice president Amy Gravitt had the following to say:

“While BARRY has delighted audiences with its deft interplay of comedy and drama, SILICON VALLEY remains as brilliantly and frighteningly prescient as ever … We’re thrilled that these two smart, funny shows are returning for another season.”

New seasons of these shows should air in 2019.

Broad City ending

Alas, all things must come to an end, and today Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer confirmed that their own long-running comedy will come to a close on Comedy Central after the fifth season, which is airing in early 2019.

Here is what they had to say in a further statement on the subject:

“Broad City has been our baby and first love for almost ten years, since we started as a web series … It’s been a phenomenal experience, and we’ve put ourselves into it completely. Broad City‘s always had a spontaneous pace and feeling, and ending after Season 5 honors that spirit. We are very excited to bring new voices and points of view to Comedy Central and continue our collaboration together in new ways.”
