Legends of Tomorrow season 3 finale: Did another important character leave?

Legends of TomorrowIs Maisie Richardson-Sellers leaving Legends of Tomorrow following the season 3 finale and joining former series regular Arthur Darvill in the process?

Ultimately, it was pretty clear from the early moments of the finale that we could be losing a Legend — heck, it was teased in some interviews beforehand that someone would be gone. Amaya was the right person to leave the team, mostly because she did eventually have a history to get back to in order to ensure that nothing else changed in the timeline. She and Nate had a nice moment before she departure, but in the scope of the episode, that seemed to be it.

The good news is this: According to Entertainment Weekly Maisie will return for another season, still as a regular. As for how that will work out, it’s anyone’s guess. It’s certainly bizarre that she’s returning given her departure and what seemed to be the perfect end for her character. Yet, we understand wanting to keep an actor around since she’s great! Is it possible she’ll have a new role?

Moving into season 4, there are some very important changes that are clear right away. For starters, we’re going to see Matt Ryan around as a series regular after he turned up in the closing minutes. We’re also going to have a chance to see more Ava Sharpe in a similar capacity. The status of Damien Darhk is unclear, especially since the character seemed to die with Mallus at the end of the episode. Yet, nuttier things have happened and this is a character who has died before.

For now though, let’s celebrate. This was a fun end to a truly-bonkers season and we’re intrigued to see just where Legends of Tomorrow is going to go from here. After all, there are so many immensely fascinating stories still worth telling with humor and the show’s signature brand of fun.
