Blue Bloods season 8 episode 19 video: Bebe Neuwirth returns
It’s been a rather long time since the Madam Secretary alum was on the show, with one of the big reasons for that being because she had that other job on the Tea Leoni CBS show. With her time on that program over she did have an opportunity to come back here as Kelly Peterson once more. She’s entering Blue Bloods this time to presumably spar with Frank once more, but the capacity of this still remains to be seen.
We’ve spoken a good bit as of late about the possibility of Frank getting together with Mayor Dutton (Lorraine Bracco), but the reality here is that Petersen was one of the first characters who was at the center of this sort of speculation. There were many people back in the day who wanted to see something happen here (including us!). As a matter of fact, eventually Peterson left her job because of feeling as though her relationship with Frank caused her to be unable to adequately do her job.
Even if this is only a one-episode appearance for Neuwirth on the show, it’s still one that we are more than excited to see. She has a nice place within Blue Bloods history and there really aren’t all that many opportunities to see this sort of callback. This is a show that often prefers to live in the now, focusing mostly on stories and interactions that draw the attention of many different characters in the short-term.
