Blue Bloods season 8 episode 18 review: The biggest Jamie / Eddie episode this year

Blue Bloods season 8

You’ve waited for a long time in order to see more of Jamie and Eddie on Blue Bloods; luckily, season 8 episode 18 started to actually push that story forward.

What happened between the two first began when Eddie was shot while out on a call, an incident that led to the death of another cop. Jamie realized that this could’ve been Eddie, and with that, started to become more protective of her than ever. Seeing her new boyfriend Barry arrive at the hospital only made things worse for Jamie. He loves her, and thanks to Erin he was finally starting to see that.

Unfortunately for Jamie, the question you have to wonder is simply this: Did he wait a little too long? the right timing can be everything in a relationship and it started to seem that way when he was ready to confess to her how he was feeling; yet, Barry showed up at the last minute (curse you, Barry!) in order to give her Broadway tickets.

CarterMatt doesn’t think that Jamko is going away; yet, we also thought that last year. We have to be reasonably skeptical of the story at this point just because we’ve had the rug pulled out from under us already with these characters.

Was love in the air elsewhere?

Here’s the interesting thing — Jack Boyle returned tonight due to his involvement in the case involving the police shooter. He and Erin worked to arrange a proper plea deal and after that, they connected over a photo that Jack still kept of her in his wallet. He then asked her out, but she already had plans — game night over at Danny’s, a tradition that he had been keeping going since the death of Linda.

For now, we’re just glad to see as much of Peter Hermann on Blue Bloods as possible.

Danny also recounted the story of game night to a grieving mother in his story tonight after finally getting justice for her son. This story was a reminder of just how many unsolved cases there are out there, and that it does sometimes take a really bold officer to take one of these cases on. He did that, challenged his colleagues, and eventually was able to find her a little bit of peace.

Meanwhile, are Frank and Mayor Dutton actually going to be a thing? We’ve been advocating for that for a little while there, but there was actually a moment between these two characters tonight where it was clear that they had at least some affection for each other.

CarterMatt Verdict

Blue Bloods season 8 episode 18 happened to be one of the best episodes of the entire season to date — it was also one of the most romantic. There were so many great stories here across the board, whether it be with Jamko, Jack, and even the surprise Frank / Dutton story.
