Black Lightning episode 12 preview: Tobias Whale returns as finale nears
With any show, one of the best things that you can hope for is that the powers that be do a good job of thinking in the now, while also working to try their hand at looking forward. Luckily, it does feel at present that the Black Lightning team is doing that. The end of the first season should help to further tie things up in regards to the current story with Tobias; meanwhile, we imagine that these final episodes could offer up some other suggestions as to what a season 2 for the series could look like.
Below, the Black Lightning episode 12 synopsis does a good job giving you a little more insight right now on the subject of what is coming up:
RETURN OF THE WHALE – Tobias (Marvin Jones III) returns to Freeland. He is tasked to capture – not kill – Black Lightning (Cress Williams) with the help of an unexpected source. After a battle of epic proportions, Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) provide surprising aid. Christine Adams, Damon Gupton and James Remar also star. The episode was written by Jan Nash & Adam Giaudrone and directed by Oz Scott (#112). Original airdate 4/10/2018.
From a writing point of few, we do think it’s certainly exciting that Black Lightning has Jan Nash of Without a Trace and Rizzoli & Isles on board. The more veteran writers you have on a show the better off it will likely be in the end.
The promo below gives you a good sense of some of what is coming up, at least in terms of giving you a good sense of some of the drama that’s coming — plus also the showdown like no other between Jefferson and Tobias.

The good news, if you missed it
Black Lightning is officially coming back for another season! While there are no details as of yet in regards to the episode count for the show, we imagine that we’ll be getting at least thirteen episodes if not more. This series was a very solid ratings contributor for The CW this season — while there are a ton of superhero shows on the schedule, this series does bring something unique and different to the table. While there have been a few Easter eggs here and there about the show being a part of the Arrowverse, there isn’t anything confirmed as of yet.
