Could How to Get Away with Murder season 5 still feature Scandal crossover?

Even though Scandal season 7 may be its final one on the air, is there still a chance that at least one of its characters could live on past the end of the series? While that may be a strange concept to consider in some ways, some current signs at the moment suggest that it is very much possible — especially when it comes to the character of Marcus Walker. This is someone who appeared alongside Kerry Washington on How to Get Away with Murder earlier this year and there was some connection between him and the character of Michaela. While logistically it may be difficult to justify reasons to bring Marcus around Michaela more often (unless of course, the two were in a romantic relationship), there could be something here that the writers end up considering.

For now, it seems as though How to Get Away with Murder executive producer Pete Nowalk is interested in seeing the story idea happen. Speaking in a new interview on the subject with Entertainment Weekly he had the following to say:

“I would hope that’s a possibility … Obviously they’re still finishing Scandal, so there’s been no discussions, but I don’t think the Marcus and Michaela story is over at all, so I’m hoping there will be some future story with the two of them.”

Given that both shows are produced through Shondaland and are obviously set within the same universe it makes absolute sense to make this happen — provided of course there is a good enough story for Marcus to make this all worth it. It would be an especially excellent way in which to honor the memory of Scandal even when it is off the air; you could even use Marcus to mention many other characters who were a part of that world for so many years.

While we are certainly eager to get some more answers as to what could be coming up here with Marcus, at the same time we’re also pretty well aware of the fact that How to Get Away with Murder world already has plenty of other characters and stories going on. We wouldn’t rush anything, but simultaneously we are exciting to see whatever ideas that the writers could bring to the table.
