Grey’s Anatomy season 14 video: Is Meredith making a new connection?
Could things be starting to change in the form of a new character Thursday night? The video below suggests that there is the slightest chance of hope. Animal Kingdom actor Scott Speedman is stopping by for this episode in the role of a transplant doctor; yet, he arrives at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital potentially as a patient and after that quickly forms a bond with Ellen Pompeo’s character. It’s clear that he both knows who she is and also admires her work.
There are a couple of questions that you should wonder after watching this scene.
1. Will this patient even live? – We hope so, given that we don’t want this to be another one of those classic Grey’s Anatomy situation where the love interest ends up dying after a very short period of time on the show. How many times have we seen that already?
2. How will he come back? – If he ends up being okay, is he just going to find a way in order to transfer into the hospital as early as he can? It’s another interesting question worth pondering at the moment.

Speedman’s long-term future on the series is still in question, especially given that he is a regular over on TNT’s Animal Kingdom. Yet, there are rumors of a possible exit from that show given the storyline that is going on at present for his character Baz, whose life is currently on the line and there is no clear way to know how things are going to end.
We’ll welcome this new character if he ends up being a part of Grey’s Anatomy in the long-term, provided of course that he does not end up altering Meredith’s story too much. It’s going to be tough to begin with just because there are so many connections that viewers already have to Derek.
