Connie Britton joins Bravo’s Dirty John series; 911 future in question

Connie Britton

There is now a greater reason to be concerned over Connie Britton’s 911 future than before — after all, the Nashville, Friday Night Lights alum has just signed on to appear in the first season of Bravo’s upcoming anthology series Dirty John.

This series is the product of Christopher Goffard, a Los Angeles Times reporter and podcast host. CarterMatt has the synopsis for you to check out below:

“The series tells the true story of how a romance with the charismatic John Meehan spiraled into secrets, denial and manipulation. Britton will lead as Debra Newell, a successful interior designer and single mom from Orange County who falls in love with John Meehan. Britton will also serve as an executive producer.”

It is not altogether difficult to figure out why Britton would want to be a part of this project — it’s a meaty, challenging role in a true-crime series that carries with it depth and ambition. Meanwhile, the executive producer credit does offer up Connie an opportunity to have even more creative control behind the scenes.

Does this mean Britton is leaving 911?

Not necessarily, though it may limit her involvement depending on shooting schedules for the two projects. As previously reported both within this article and with the video below (be sure to subscribe to our CarterMatt YouTube channel for more), Britton only signed a one-year deal to do the show as a favor to Murphy, who she worked with on both American Horror Story: Murder House alongside The People v. OJ Simpson.

Hopefully, there are going to be some additional announcements when it comes to Connie’s 911 future coming up; for now, though, we’re assuming that there remains a chance that she could appear in at least a few episodes, if not more when plans start to really finalize in the months coming up. 911 season 2 could premiere on Fox as early as in the fall.
