MacGyver season 2 episode 20 preview: Ed Asner, Piper Laurie to guest star

MAcGyver season 2 episode 20There are many things coming up on MacGyver season 2 episode 20 airing on CBS Friday, April 13, and based on some of what we’re seeing right now, there is a reasonably good chance that you’re going to love it. How can you not when you’ve got a great guest star like Ed Asner stopping by? The acting icon will be appearing within this episode in the role of someone who seems to be put in a rather shocking position — it’s one that is hinted at slightly in the photo above. Beyond that check out the synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below.

“Skyscraper – Power” – Mac and Jack attempt to rescue a billionaire’s son after he is kidnapped by a former Navy SEAL who uses an EMP weapon to cut off power and communication lines to the Shanghai skyscraper where the boy lives, on MACGYVER, Friday, April 13 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Ed Asner and Piper Laurie guest star as a couple on a private jet commandeered by Mac and Jack to fly to Shanghai.

We feel like we don’t need to hype up the castings of Asner and Laurie given their respective achievements. Both of them have dozens of fantastic TV and film credits that spread several decades; getting Laurie is an especially impressive feat given that she hasn’t appeared as a guest star in a TV series in more than a decade. Her last credits on the small screen included Cold Case as well as Dead Like Me.

For Asner, the fun of this casting comes as this is not his first appearance within the CBS Extended Universe, as we like to call it. This is a different character from August March, who he played on both the original and the newer version on Hawaii Five-0. This is far from the first time in which one actor played a couple of different characters within this world; after all, we have already seen MacGyver cast member Meredith Eaton do this thanks to her appearances on NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans.
