Legends of Tomorrow season 3 episode 17 preview: The John Noble hour

Legends of Tomorrow season 3 episode 17

Are you ready for Legends of Tomorrow season 3 episode 17 to air on The CW? There are a number of different things to be excited about and much of that begins with the title of this episode: “Guest Starring John Noble.” Seriously, that’s the title for this episode, which may very well be the strangest episode title in the history of the entire CW series (and that’s saying something).

So why name an episode after a guest star? Well, the former Fringe and Sleepy Hollow star has been a key part in the fabric of the series — after all, he has voiced the villain of Mallus for much of the year. The producers have found a unique way to use the actor in the flesh, but they also are not doing a lot to share precisely how this is going to be coming about.

The Legends of Tomorrow season 3 episode 17 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below offers up some more insight as to what is coming up:

SEEING DOUBLE – With the timeline barely stable, the Legends must tackle two anachronisms at the same time to try and keep Mallus at bay. Sara (Caity Lotz) and Rip (guest star Arthur Darvill) team up to stop Grodd (guest star David Sobolov) from going after a particular target leaving Nate (Nick Zano) and Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) to stop Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) from changing her future. Meanwhile, the Legends think they have found a way to destroy Mallus, but they will have to create an uneasy alliance with one of their enemies. Brandon Routh, Dominic Purcell and Tala Ashe also star. Ralph Hemecker directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & James Eagan (#317). Original airdate 4/2/2018.

Guest-starring fun aside, there are obviously some pretty major boxes that need to be checked with this show so close to the end of the season. For example, it would be great to be able to see how Mallus can be defeated, and also just how powerful these totems can all be if used correctly. We’ve certainly seen already that in the right hands, these can be powerful — Mick with the fire totem, for example, is pretty amazing.
