If Legends of Tomorrow season 4 happens, Matt Ryan will be series regular

John Constantine - Matt Ryan

While a Legends of Tomorrow season 4 is not confirmed as of yet, the folks behind the scenes at the series have absolutely given you a reason to be excited about a possible renewal: Promoting the man behind Constantine to series regular.

It was announced on Monday that Matt Ryan will be promoted in the end that the series does get an opportunity to come back on the air again in the 2018-19 season — which, for the time being, feels very likely. The fact that the writers are thinking of this move certainly suggests to us that they have confidence in the show coming back.

The journey of John Constantine through the Arrowverse has certainly been an interesting one. Originally, the character was featured on his own show over on NBC, which ran for a season but was canceled after the fact due to low ratings. At that point, a fan movement led to the character appearing in what was originally meant to be a one-off episode of Arrow. Yet, from there we ended up seeing him appear on Legends of Tomorrow this season — given that this season is featuring demons at the root of it, it absolutely does make some sense that he would be featured in some sort of way. Maybe this is a sign that season 4 also will feature the occult — or, maybe the writers of the series really just wanted a chance to have a little bit of fun with this character. Either way, it’s exciting to have him around. He’s certainly got quite the history with Sara Lance and, to go along with that, we hope that his appearance on this show could lead to some other characters from his world appearing in some capacity.
