The Alienist episode 9 preview: A suspect rises as finale nears

The AlienistWhat is coming up on The Alienist episode 9? It feels a little bit like a given to say at this point that we’re nearing the most dramatic point in the season. Sara and company are continuing the hunt for the killer at all costs, and the good news for them is that it actually does seem as though they’re closer to finding some reasons. As the search closes in, though, more characters could be in danger — meanwhile, others may be a little more proactive in some of their own activities.

Below, The Alienist episode 9 synopsis does a good job making it clear as to precisely what is going to be coming up over the course of the hour:

Kreizler (Daniel Brühl) mourns the loss of a friend. Sara (Dakota Fanning) pushes the team to forge ahead. Moore (Luke Evans) warns his friend the killer will strike again. Cyrus (Robert Ray Wisdom) seeks revenge.

The Alienist episode 9 is the penultimate one of the season and maybe even the series; you have to plan for that on some level since there is still some ambiguity as to precisely what the future is going to hold. The biggest thing that you can possibly hope for are some answers.

Going into the penultimate episode, we do feel confident in saying that The Alienist has momentum on its side in terms of its commercial success. With almost 1.8 million people watching this past episode it is by far the most successful episode of the series since the two-hour premiere. Viewers who are checking out the series live are sticking with it, and that is without even bringing into account some of the people watching after the fact on their DVRs. They are all contributing in one way or another to the fabric of the show and its overall success. It may not be getting a ton of buzz compared to other series on the air right now, but that is not a reflection of its quality.
