Outlander season 4 premiere date possibilities, using Power season 5 date as lens

Outlander season 4 premiere date

Will the recent Power season 5 premiere date announcement have any impact at all on when Outlander season 4 premieres? This is a subject we like to look at on an annual basis, given that these two series are Starz’s biggest ones and it doesn’t seem like the network wants to air them both on the same night. They never have before, and the end of Power, based on last year, seems to be a signal that Outlander is coming around the bend.

Here’s what CarterMatt can tell you about the schedule right now. As reported previously, Power season 5 will start on Sunday, July 1 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time — based on the cliffhanger of last season it looks like Ghost and Tasha are going to be in quite the pickle this time around. (While Power and Outlander are very different shows with little in common, they’re both very good and overlooked in awards-show circles.)

Typically, Power airs ten episodes a season; assuming that there is not a hiatus breaking things up this time around (maybe there’s one for Labor Day Weekend), the earliest the series could end is Sunday, September 2. If there is a week off in there, the earliest season 5 ends is Sunday, September 9.

How does this apply to Outlander? The easy assumption to make is that Outlander season 4 will premiere on Sunday, September 9 given that this is one day before season 3 premiered last year. There are a few different reasons why that may not happen: Either Power is still on the air then, production needs more time, or the series premieres on September 16 and doesn’t take any time off. It’s also possible they’ll start later but we presume that Starz would want to end the season before getting too close to Christmas.

Could Outlander and Power technically air on the same night? Sure, but as mentioned we don’t think that is something that Starz is altogether eager to do based on past scheduling patterns. One good thing for Outlander scheduling in general this season that is exciting is that it’s not going to be forced to air against the Emmys, which are moving to Monday this year because of NBC’s football commitments. Last year, the Emmys did seem to put a dent in Outlander’s live viewership for a week.

Hopefully, a formal Outlander season 4 premiere date will be announced this summer.
