The Outlander Emmy campaign starts early

Outlander season 4

For everyone out there who wanted to see the Outlander Emmy campaign kick off before we got too far into the spring, we come bearing good news! The cast and crew are already doing everything that they can to get the buzz going for voting this summer.

On Sunday, many cast and crew members, including Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe alongside executive producers Ronald D. Moore, Toni Graphia, Matthew B. Roberts, Maril Davis, and production designer Jon Gary Steele, are currently set to appear in an Emmy screening panel and discussion in Los Angeles. (The lineup, as always, is subject to change.) This will be a source of great promotion for the show, and also potentially one of the best sources of press for it since the 2018 Golden Globes earlier this year. Sure, there may be some press that comes out of filming in Glasgow later this week, but we anticipate that this will be in more of an unofficial capacity since we don’t expect anyone doing interviews while they’re trying to film.

This is far from the first time in which Outlander has done panel discussions as a means to promote itself for awards season; yet, it remains a very welcome sight and is further proof that the series is doing everything it can at the moment to get some discussion generated in a way that could turn into Emmy gold later this year. While the show has been recognized extensively at the Golden Globes and some other shows, it really hasn’t gotten the praise it deserves at the Emmys. As we explain in the recent YouTube video (which you can check out and subscribe to below), this could be the year for Balfe after getting yet another Globe nomination this past year and having such great material as Claire in the past season. We still are hopeful that Heughan will receive some love of his own since he truly deserves it, but past awards shows make him a bit of an underdog this year. The same goes for the series itself, but with the right campaign anything is possible. We certainly think that both the show and Sam are deserving.
