The Walking Dead season 8 episode 11 sneak peek: Swamp zombies!
When all else fails, why not just go with promoting your show with the grossest-looking zombies possible? It may be reaching for the lowest-common denominator in some ways, but when you think about it doesn’t it make a certain degree of sense that this would be something that the series would try? Back in the early does, the zombies alone were a primary selling point to convince viewers to check out the show and understandably so. There was a cognizance at that time that zombies were something that wasn’t really on TV all that much.
Unfortunately, the crisis that The Walking Dead now finds itself in when it comes to this sort of thing is rather simple: Viewers are simply more aware now of zombies on television and they’ve seen more of Greg Nicotero’s outstanding work. Because of that in turn, it’s quite frankly so much harder to impress them. As awesome as this swamp zombie is, it’s probably not going to move the needle much — and the same goes for a sneak preview that doesn’t really give you all that much in the way of insight as to what is coming in this episode overall. Signs do point towards this being a big episode for Daryl Dixon, and with that in mind, this is how we would primarily sell this episode. Put Daryl Dixon first and then see what happens from there.
