Law & Order: SVU alum Raul Esparza joins new NBC drama pilot
According to a new report from Deadline, Esparza (who we equally love for his role as Chilton on Hannibal) is going to appear in the upcoming NBC drama pilot Suspicion from The Path creator Jessica Goldberg, and will be playing a part that is certainly very different from Rafael Barba. Here is how the aforementioned publication describes the series:
“Created and written by Goldberg based on the book by Joseph Finder and directed by Brad Anderson, Suspicion is described as a Hitchcockian thriller about how far one man will go to save the people he loves. After Danny Goodman (Derek Luke) accepts a handshake loan from his new friend and millionaire neighbor, Tom Canter (Esparza), he gets a visit from the FBI and learns that the decision is one he will regret for the rest of his life. Coerced to work as an informant for the FBI to earn back his freedom, Danny is forced to infiltrate a world of violence and corruption while trying to protect his family.”
It comes as a surprise that Esparza could potentially be returning to the series so quickly but in the end, we’re rather happy that he could be! Raul is a tremendous actor who could work wonders with any material. It’s far too early to know whether or not this series is going to be getting a series order but it absolutely sounds intense, dramatic, and different from most other stuff on TV. Sure, there have been some other series that have aired over the years that revolve around the FBI, this premise is slightly different and should prove to be well worth the price of admission.
What do you think about Raul Esparza getting this new potential series so soon after Law & Order: SVU? Be sure to share in the comments!
