Criminal Minds season 13 episode 16 preview: Adam Rodriguez directs ‘Last Gasp’

Criminal Minds season 13 episode 16

“Last Gasp” is the title for Criminal Minds season 13 episode 16 next week and based on some of the information that is out there, the center of the story is still going to be about Linda Barnes. In the midst of everything that could be coming up with a dangerous UnSub, it’s going to be the FBI’s assistant director of national security who will continue to take center stage. You are not meant to like this character, mostly because of the fact that she’s not presented in a likable way and she’s ripping apart the team. She’s been shown to date to be someone who is out for her own interests and is doing just about everything that she can to flex her power for the sake of what she thinks is the right way to go about law enforcement. The BAU is on the verge of crumbling and her being in charge is a big reason why. How can you do things in a business-as-usual way when someone is fundamentally keeping you from doing just that?

The Criminal Minds season 13 episode 16 synopsis below offers up some more insight as to what is coming up next:

“Last Gasp” – Away from the watchful eye of the FBI’s assistant director of national security, Linda Barnes (Kim Rhodes), the BAU meets in secret to investigate an UnSub who appears to be kidnapping and photographing young women, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, March 14 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Beyond just the focus of this story, there is something else that is notable about “Last Gasp” — this is the first episode of the series directed by Adam Rodriguez! The actor has directed other episodes of TV in the past and he joins Joe Mantegna and Matthew Gray Gubler as cast members who have also helmed Criminal Minds episodes. Both Mantegna and Gubler still have installments coming up later this season, with Gubler’s somehow involving creepy clowns.
