The Scandal series finale table read is here, as is a sad reality
The bad news at the moment is pretty darn clear: The Scandal series finale is almost upon us.
As Shonda Rhimes, show creator and executive producer, made it clear on Twitter, the table read happened on Friday. That marked an opportunity for everyone to celebrate, but also probably feel a little bit sad at the same time. There were probably so many emotions within this moment rolled up into one neat little package — sadness, gratitude, and maybe even a reluctance for some to accept it was really happening. This has been a long journey and Scandal provided for many something that is very rare within this industry: Job security.

One of the many reasons that we’re excited moving into the final episodes of Scandal is that we actually have zero idea at all how all of this is going to end, or if someone like Olivia Pope can actually be redeemed after everything that has transpired with her. This is a series really marked by chaos and she’s been at the center of almost every little aspect of it. We do want to see her victorious in the end, but something that we’re still trying to reconcile on some level is the notion that what is a victory for her may be very much a different thing from what we perceive to be a victory for us as a viewer. Scandal is not a show that really steeps itself all that much in meta-drama.
