Jessica Alba returning to TV with NBC’s Bad Boys series

Jessica Alba

NBC’s upcoming Bad Boys series pilot now has its second female lead, and it’s certainly someone you’ve heard from before in Jessica Alba.

Sources confirm that Alba is going to be appearing alongside original franchise star Gabrielle Union in the role of Nancy McKenna, an Army veteran and also a detective who is pairing up with the character of Syd Burnett. This is a role that should allow her to have a lot of fun and, to go along with that, give her a presence that she hasn’t had in a little while.

The Bad Boys movie franchise was last in theaters fifteen years ago, which we do think qualifies well in today’s edition of “things that are going to make you feel really old.” Can you really believe that it’s been this long since the last movie was in theaters? There was talk at one board about new movies but, instead, this is the project that we’ve got.

For the time being, we do have a certain degree of confidence that Bad Boys is going to come together as a series. After all, Alba and Union are both very popular stars who have devoted followings; beyond that, this is a franchise that viewers are familiar with and it should capture some nostalgia.

As for where it fits on the NBC schedule, we’ll say this: It feels almost primed to go after The Voice on Monday night, where it can capitalize on a big lead-in. Unless Good Girls takes off there the remainder of the season, there doesn’t seem to be a better spot for it.

Once there is a little bit more news on the future of this series (which Alba is also going to executive produce), we will have it for you here. The show’s future should be set in stone by the time we get around to May.
