Hawaii Five-0 season 8: Air date, details for Alex O’Loughlin-directed episode

McGarrett - Alex O'Loughlin

If you’ve been eager to learn a thing or two more about Alex O’Loughlin’s upcoming directorial debut on Hawaii Five-0, we have some good news! CarterMatt has a few more details on that very thing.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the first thing worth noting about this episode is the air date: March 30. As for what is happening within said episode, this is going to be the one that gives you more information about who shot Danny earlier this season. You’ll understand some of the motivation behind it and also meet the woman who was married to the shooter. All of this is tied to what is apparently a life-altering case from Danny’s past. We’ve been wanting answers on this shooting for a while now — we’re just happy that we’re getting another potentially-great episode out of it! Remember, there was already one great episode earlier this season revolving around the shooter as it sent Danny into his alternate-universe where we got to see his vision for the remainder of his life.

As for some other great news from this episode, know that this is going to be one that features the big return of Jimmy Buffett — not only that, but you will see O’Loughlin play guitar at some point during it! Just thinking about this alone has us feeling like this could be an episode with a lot of great balance between drama, character development, and fun. The Danny backstory is obviously important, but that is not going to be the only element of this episode that will be a focus.

Remember that Hawaii Five-0 season 8 returns on CBS with a new episode on Friday night and there is still a lot of season left for us to dive in to! That’s what happens when you produce 25 episodes over the course of the year.
