The Magicians renewed for season 4 at Syfy

Great news for anyone who had any concerns at all — The Magicians season 4 is officially happening over at Syfy! Today, the network announced the fantastic news leading up to its latest new episode, and that should give everyone a chance to breathe a sigh of relief before getting into the home stretch of the season.

Of course, now that we’ve said that it’s hard to imagine that this renewal is really all that much of a surprise to anyone in the first place. The Magicians is one of the network’s highest-rated shows and we’ve also seen now, time and time again, a serious commitment to making sure that it is supported as much as possible. This is a series allowed to take big risks, whether it be have enormous shifts in format or even to go so far as to air an episode featuring songs — which the show is doing in just one week’s time.

As for how long we foresee The Magicians lasting on the network, it’s possible that it could have another couple of years left, at least. The truth with a show like this is that its lifespan is really up to how much material there is left to adapt and if the ratings ever dip. So long as things stay the way in which they are now, it’s hard to imagine Syfy wanting to get rid of the show. They benefit heavily from being about to continue catering to this fan group and then using it to promote some of their other shows. This is a marquee series for the network, one that routinely tries to do a number of different things — and it does many of them rather well.

If there is one cause for concern here, it is mostly that The Magicians airs on a network that does have a history of letting shows go before their time. Hopefully that is not something that happens here.
