Better Call Saul season 4: Vince Gilligan not ruling out Aaron Paul appearance

Better Call Saul season 4

Is it possible that Aaron Paul could be turning up in Better Call Saul season 4, or some other season down the road? There’s been an interest and willingness on that subject from the beginning and we are certainly pleased to see now that this hasn’t changed.

Speaking on the subject of the future for this character to Digital Spy recently, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan remains every bit as coy now as he was back when the first season of Better Call Saul aired years ago:

“You never know if that character may get revisited in the future … Anything’s possible.”

Our stance on this subject remains the same — it’s one thing to bring back characters like Jimmy McGill, Gus Fring, or even Walter White (if the series goes that route) into the Better Call Saul universe just because of the fact that these people are all well into their adult lives at the start of the Breaking Bad story. Jesse Pinkman is not. It’s hard to go back and throw in a Jesse cameo, thinking that Paul is going to be able to play a guy that young convincingly. He’s an exceptional actor but some things just aren’t physically possible anymore.

If we had our preference, it would be to somehow either see or hear about Jesse in some of the flash-forwards. Whether or not Gilligan wants to go that route remains to be seen given that his ending is a perfect little mystery at the end of Breaking Bad. It’s possible that Jesse just somehow finds a way to escape, but it’s also possible that he’s tracked down by police and arrested shortly after. The latter is probably the more realistic, which is why it may be better to think that Jesse has paid his dues and is off somewhere living free and not having to worry about his life all of the time.
