Outlander season 4 notes: Sam Heughan’s funny tease; Caitriona Balfe’s run

Today’s Outlander notes run the gamut from silly to inspiring, and they come to us of course via two of the series’ stars in Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe.

Let’s start with Sam’s Twitter post from earlier, given that the mention of a “lubricated blade” likely produced many a chuckle when it first surfaced on the internet. There are so many different places where your imagination can go after reading a tweet like that … but let’s not veer in that direction for now. There is actually an interesting debate behind what this is an actual reference to. Is it a sword, a knife, a guillotine, a razor, or something else we’re not thinking of at present?

If nothing else, we can consider this message from Sam the slightest tease as to some of the props that the team is working with. It also signifies that everyone is at work on set on new episodes … and it’s a reason to laugh. Sometimes you just need that without spending too much time thinking about anything else.

Outlander season 4 filming should continue for at least a few more months, if not longer, throughout Scotland and potentially parts of Europe.

Caitriona Balfe’s run

On a very different note, congratulations to Balfe on deciding to give the London Marathon a try with her sister! This is no easy feat, and with that something that she’s already training for. She posted a series of funny gifs about it, but beyond that this is in part a way to raise money for a great cause in World Child Cancer. She’s included a link to donate if you would like to do that below; note that you are supporting a great cause while also promoting wellness. What Balfe is doing here as no small feat — this is coming from someone who considers it a victory when they run to the mailbox and back effectively.

Perhaps the biggest question that we’re wondering at the moment is simply this: In between filming the show and training for this, when is Caitriona going to even have the time to sleep? Outlander is certainly no easy gig on its own.
