Legends of Tomorrow season 3 episode 12 video: Rip Hunter, Wally West get drunk

We knew that there was a pretty good chance that Wally West’s debut on Legends of Tomorrow season 3 episode 12 was going to be fun; now, we’ve got what is effectively video proof of that very thing!

If you look below via Entertainment Weekly, you can check out a new sneak peek from Monday night’s new episode that focuses almost entirely on seeing Rip Hunter do his part to try and win over his new speedster friend. He knows that he needs Wally for some sort of mission, and apparently, the best way to do that is by getting hammered with them. Apparently, Wally carries with him some of the “rocket fuel” that Cisco developed — otherwise known as the only beverage out there that can get a speedster drunk. Rip does his part to clue in Wally about what he’s been through and with that, Wally starts to realize that Rip has been kind of a tool. In between all of his efforts with the Time Bureau and the Legends as of late, what we’re basically getting a reminder of within this preview is that Rip is a screw-up perhaps even more than most of the Legends are.

We do, for the record, like this version of Rip much more than the one that was present during the first season — he was too much of a by-the-book ruler and the series needed someone like Sara, who was a bit more of a rogue, in charge here. Having Rip float around through time to fix his old mistakes is a little more fun, and we do wonder whether or not he could be using someone like Wally to aid him in some of his quests. We haven’t seen Wally play around all that much with the timeline, but we certainly know already that he is more than capable of it.
