The Good Doctor episode 16 return date: Another hiatus coming
Because of The Bachelor: After the Final Rose airing on March 5 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, the Freddie Highmore series is going off the air — again. We would say that ABC should’ve considered putting this show on ice on both January and February so that they could’ve aired most of the 2018 episodes in succession, but we also understand why they didn’t want to. They saw a little bit of value in trying to put some of these new episodes after The Bachelor to capitalize on the lead-in and, for the most part, it worked. The Good Doctor is one of the biggest hits of the broadcast season, especially when it comes to shows on ABC. It’s really helped to put the network back in contention when it comes to new programming.
As much as these hiatuses stink, at least it doesn’t seem to be hurting The Good Doctor ratings so far.
The good news is this: The Good Doctor episode 16 is going to be airing on Monday, March 12, and this is the first of three new episodes that will be airing in succession. There aren’t any more hiatuses coming beyond the next one — at least until the show goes off the air until fall.
One thing that is relatively interesting here is that the final episodes for The Good Doctor are going to air following American Idol, which makes that show the third different lead-in we’ve seen so far this season. It’s not altogether common that you see that with a show over the course of a single year. At least American Idol is poised to be a pretty good lead-in, though it makes almost zero sense that this show is airing opposite another singing show in The Voice. We don’t quite know why ABC thought that was a good idea, but that’s what they are rolling with for the first few weeks of its season.
