Celebrity Big Brother finale: Ross Mathews backyard interview highlights
Tonight, Ross Mathews was not the winner of Celebrity Big Brother, even though he really should have been. He worked hard throughout the season but, unfortunately, players sometimes choose to reward the person who doesn’t lie as much. That is why Marissa Jaret Winokur is now going home as the champion.
Basically, it’s classic Big Brother — jury members often don’t vote for someone who they feel wronged them on some level.
Below, you can see some notable highlights from Ross’ backyard interview with CBS Los Angeles.
On winning America’s Favorite Houseguest – “America’s player means more to me than the crown.”
On the vote for Marissa to win and the jury’s decision – “If I was out there and I saw someone playing that hard … That’s an undeniable vote. That’s an undeniable winner.”
On him making final two agreements with so many people – “I felt like even if I didn’t win the HoH, I would have went to the final two no matter what. I played my best game, but I just feel like the jury took it personally.”
On if he would have taken Mark or Marissa – “It was a dilemma I was struggling with until the very last second — I don’t know [who I would choose].”
We do think that Ross is probably one of the better runners-up in series history — the comparisons between Ross and Paul are inevitable, but the difference there to us is that Ross wasn’t anywhere near as negative at times and seemed to show more genuine care for people. Then again, it’s with that in mind that people felt more hurt by him. With Paul, it was just that people downright hated him and didn’t want to see him win. The only thing that Ross probably could have done differently was win the final HoH and then bring Mark to the end — he probably had a good chance at beating him just because he really didn’t do all that much for most of the game. (Even still, though, that could have been a close vote.)
