Chicago Fire season 6: The potential schedule rest of the season
The good news, as many Chi-Hards out there know, is that the NBC series is airing a new episode on Thursday night — that is their first in quite a long time, and it’s absolutely one that we welcome! This episode will be followed by the second part of a two-hour crossover with Chicago PD the following week. (We’ve already got some great coverage for the crossover planned out, so we hope that you come back to CarterMatt to see some more of that coverage coming up.)
In terms of the schedule beyond that, the Futon Critic reports that come Thursday, March 15, there is going to be another repeat. In the midst of all of the other reruns we’ve seen over time it’s understandable if you want to groan over that. Yet, there is also some good news on the other side of it: Depending on what NBC wants to do and when they want Chicago Fire season 6 to conclude, we could have an opportunity to see new episodes the remainder of the season! The network will have the flexibility to air new installments every week from March 22 to May 17 (a potential finale date) without another repeat in between. That would give the series overall a nice episode order of 22, which is on par with the vast majority of other network TV shows.
As for the season 7 odds for Chicago Fire, that’s something that we talked a little bit more about in our recent TV Lifespans piece. Let’s just say that, at least for now, we’re fairly confident over the series’ future. There is no reason not to be with the ratings that it has.
