New Shadowhunters season 3 midseason finale music tease!
In a new post on Twitter (see below), show executive producer Todd Slavkin confirmed that Ruelle watched the final season of season 3A only to then write the series an original song to play out for it! That’s certainly special, and it further cements her own legacy as all the more essential to the series. Remember that Ruelle is the person responsible for the Shadowhunters theme song, so her voice is already very recognizable for viewers out there.
Now, let’s read between the lines here — if you are bringing in Ruelle for an original song, there’s a pretty good chance that something big is going on. You don’t do something like this otherwise. It didn’t to tap into that moment and establish the mood for whatever was going on in the story. Maybe it’s something tragic, something romantic, or something hopeful. There’s a small chance that it is a combination of all three. One way or another, it’s going to be epic.
Unfortunately, you’re going to be waiting for a rather long time still in order to actually hear this song. Remember that the season 3 midseason finale for Shadowhunters may not air until close to the end of May depending on the scheduling. (For those who aren’t aware, the second half of season 3 is currently filming — we’ll just have to wait and see if Ruelle comes back in order to contribute another song for that.) The first half of season 3 begins on March 20; there will be more insight on that before long.
