Game of Thrones season 8 should have many Maisie Williams battle scenes

Maisie Williams

Just in case you wanted to see Maisie Williams and her character of Arya Stark in action often on Game of Thrones season 8, the following news should prove to be very much up your alley! Based on most of the indications that are out there, the character will have a very clear presence through much of the upcoming story.

Obviously, you are not going to get all that much from the actress when it comes to spoilers, but Game of Thrones is currently doing a run of consecutive night shoots that suggest that some sort of epic nighttime battle is coming up. Beyond that, Williams’ own comments to People Magazine suggest that her own battle skills are being honed for something epic that is coming up:

Yesterday I took a stunt class for the new season of [Game of Thrones]. It’s sword work and combat fighting. The [trainers] have all these big pads on, so you’re allowed to just go crazy.

As for what Arya’s role in an upcoming battle could be, she has the training to be the expert assassin, the person who carefully weaves her way through soldiers while stabbing almost everyone as she sees fit. She’s small enough to be missed and underestimated. While she may not be altogether difficult to kill if you actually strike her, therein lies the twist: Striking her is not altogether easy. She is able to maneuver around in a way that makes most others in battle jealous.

We don’t anticipate it being altogether much of a surprise to anyone just how many battle scenes there are going to be in the final season when you consider where we are and where the story is projected to end up. While there may or may not be someone definitively on the throne at the end of this series it does feel as though the entire White Walker threat should be contained. After all, if not it’ll feel like much of the trajectory of the series will have been a waste. Remember when the White Walkers were involved from the very pilot of Game of Thrones onward?
