Madam Secretary season 4: What are ratings expectations rest of season?

Madam Secretary season 4 ratings

As we await the return of Madam Secretary season 4 to CBS come March 11, let’s pose another question: What are the ratings expectations going to be? Is there anything specific that we should be hoping for in order to get the series renewed for a fifth season?

If we are to be super-specific here, we’ll say this: The biggest thing that Madam Secretary season 4 needs to do is simply to stay the course. While its numbers in the fall were not exactly through-the-roof astounding, they were easily strong enough to get the Tea Leoni series renewed for another season. What the show should be a little bit more concerned about at the moment is a springtime decline. That happens for so many shows out there as there start to become a wide array of different things that viewers can do other than just sit around the TV for new episodes. Given that this winter is especially rough, we do think that this is true perhaps more so than ever.

To date, Madam Secretary season 4 is averaging a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic and we do think that there should be a decent amount of retention here for a few different reasons. For starters, there’s not too much to worry about anymore when it comes to delays — the NFL is going to have fewer opportunities coming up to rear its head and cause some more problems because of overruns.

Another thing aiding the series is relatively simple: Consistency. There should be new episodes airing almost every Sunday starting from March 11 through the rest of the season. If there is going to be any break for Madam Secretary in the midst of the coming weeks, it’s likely to just be a short one because of the Academy of Country Music Awards.
