Descendants 3 release date coming in summer 2019; see new teaser
In a new teaser tonight, the House of Mouse officially confirmed that the third chapter within their TV musical franchise, based loosely on many classic Disney villains and their children, will premiere at some point in the summer of 2019. This teaser was anchored by Dove Cameron as her character Mal, who could have a significant dose of backstory within the new chapter.
We don’t think it’s much of a surprise to anyone that a Descendants 3 would be coming based on the success of the first two movies. Not only did they prove to be enormous hits in the ratings, but they also showed themselves to be enormous when it comes to merchandising. There’s been all sorts of products, more than we can ever list off here, related to the show. It makes perfect sense for Disney to keep that going so long as there is still some interesting story still to tell.

We have no doubt in the world that Descendants will continue to be a hit franchise for at least the immediate future. As for whether or not there’s going to be a fourth movie, that’s an entirely different question and it’s probably a little bit difficult to say that right now. Many TV movie franchise tend to end at three, especially on the Disney Channel where viewers tend to age out of shows fairly quickly. Once the numbers come in for the third movie down the road, there’s probably going to be a better chance to start to predict this.
For now, let’s just say that if you enjoyed the first two Descendants movies, there is a pretty darn good chance that you are also going to love the third. After all, why wouldn’t you?
