Big Brother couple Cody Nickson, Jessica Graf engaged
According to a report from TMZ, the two reality stars got engaged while on a hike in Los Angeles on Thursday. The two parties first met on Big Brother 19, where they bonded together and eventually became the most notable alliance and showmance within the game. The two found many fans during their time in the game, with Cody going on to win America’s Favorite Houseguest. Following that, the two parties ended up getting a spot on this current season of The Amazing Race.
What’s become somewhat remarkable about Big Brother over the years is that shockingly, they have almost a better relationship record than a show strictly about love in The Bachelor. While The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise have a slightly-better track record, there’s only two couples from The Bachelor who got married after the show — and only one of them actually got engaged at the end of the season. Big Brother, meanwhile, has produced a number of long-lasting relationships within the past eight years, including Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd, Rachel Reilly and Brendon Villegas, Dominic Briones and Dani Donato, and most recently Victor Arroyo and Nicole Franzel. While not all of these couples actually started dating during their season together, they formed a bond that eventually did turn into something more.
Why are Big Brother relationships so successful?
The experience is actually more conducive to long-lasting relationships than almost any other reality show. There really are no other distractions and, in some cases, you really get a chance to hang around each other for months without end. There’s no unrealistic dates you go on and you learn about each other backwards and forwards. Cody and Jessica actually weren’t together in the game nearly as long as many other Big Brother relationships, but clearly it was long enough to make it work for them. They seemed set even before they left the game that they would be together for the long haul.
