Top Chef: Colorado: Who won Last Chance Kitchen?
So … who was it? The end result here was not too dramatic a surprise based on the end result of the web series: Joe Flamm is now officially back in the game! After being eliminated via a sudden death quickfire Joe managed to succeed in many of the final Last Chance Kitchen challenges, even managing to dethrone Brother Luck, who had been riding a rather impressive winning streak to that point. We were bummed out about the way Joe left, and with that it was nice to see him back.
Granted, we’re not altogether sure that any of his fellow contestants were altogether happy to see him given the fact that he was a fierce competitor and also someone who was entering with momentum. On a personal level Joe does seem to be really popular in the house, and from that vantage point maybe it was nice to get him back.
What was pretty interesting about Joe’s return is that it came with an added advantage: He had an opportunity to take some ingredients from the other contestants in the new Quickfire. He’s an accomplished, fantastic chef who easily could win the whole thing. This wouldn’t be the first that a returning chef ended up winning Top Chef — it’s happened before, and we actually think that this competition is the perfect training ground for the finals. While most Top Chef proper contestants just have to cook to not lose, in Last Chance Kitchen you have to cook to win. One mistake, and your life in the season is over for good. That sort of intensity is now in the flagship series as well.
