TV Revivals results: Did White Collar, Firefly, or Longmire advance?
Over the past few days we’ve posted many different discussions within our TV Revivals article series, and to go along with that we’ve had a poll running of five different shows deserving of a little more love: The Closer, Firefly, Agent Carter, Longmire, and White Collar. The winner of this poll will go on to battle Dark Matter and one other show to be named next week in the finals starting on February 21.
So who is the winning show moving forward? CarterMatt readers have made their choice clear…
White Collar is moving on to the next round.
We cannot say that we’re altogether shocked by the voting results here, largely based on the enthusiasm for the USA series and for Matt Bomer as a whole. White Collar took home the lion’s share of the vote with just over 53%, more than the other four entries combined. We hope that this would do something to convince the network that there is still a large group of fans that want more of this series — we already know that there are more stories to tell based on how the series originally ended.
How optimistic are we about this revival happening?
We’re not incredibly optimistic about any revival since you’re almost asking a network to do the impossible: Take a show that they’ve already ended and then find a way to bring it back with the same cast members and premise. It may not be feasible either financially or logistically; we already know that a show like White Collar was expensive to make in the first place because it filmed around New York City.
Technically, the series did at least have a proper ending and had a chance to leave something more to the imagination — that’s a good thing in that it leaves open the possibility of a movie or another season, but it does also mean that the show can end this way and you can come up with whatever future for the characters that you want.
