Law & Order: SVU season 19 spoilers: Why is Cassidy a murder suspect?

If you’ve been following along to some of the latest Law & Order: SVU coverage that we’ve posted here at CarterMatt, you likely know some of the narrative already behind the next new episode on February 28. The story is geared in part around a murder case that ends up throwing Cassidy into the line of fire, mostly because of a murder case that leads to him becoming a suspect.

Yet, how does this happen? While we know that there are many opinions out there about Cassidy, both good and bad, we’re not exactly used to seeing him in position. Yet, there may be a reason for it. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cassidy finds himself in trouble as a result of what happens during a trial. He loses his temper while on the stand, and this in turn causes a mistrial. As a result of that, a doctor who was arrested after sexually abusing many of his patients goes free. This doctor is later found murdered, and the thought process here is that Cassidy, blaming himself, may have killed the doctor and then went into hiding.

The eeriness of this case is not lost on us, given the horrific sex scandal that has recently transpired with Dr. Larry Nassar and USA Gymnastics. This story is not a direct recreation of this case (the SVU writers had no way of knowing how that trial would play out), but there will likely be echoes of that here.

As for Cassidy’s involvement it is hard to see him being the guilty party — there are so many possible suspects that it feels almost impossible to narrow things down to just him. When you think about the horrific acts in which this person is accused of doing, there are many suspects out there that should be considered. It’s not altogether difficult to imagine what some of the motives could be.
