Outlander perspectives: Who was your favorite new season 3 character?

We know that there was many a good new season 3 character on Outlander, but which one did you enjoy the most? That’s a question that we first raised last week as we continued our Outlander perspectives article series. With this season in general there were many good people to choose from, whether it be Young Ian Murray, Marsali Fraser, Lord John Grey, or others. Some of these characters were likable, whereas others were significant for the sake of progressing the story.

Out of the people we put on the list, who emerged as CarterMatt readers’ favorite? This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.

Lord John Grey is your favorite Outlander new season 3 character.

Did you really expect anything different here? How could you? This is, for starters, one of the most-popular people within the entire Outlander – Diana Gabaldon universe. The character has his own spin-off stories and his relationship with Jamie and Claire is different than anyone else’s on the series. Also, you’ve got an outstanding actor in the role in David Berry. He had many memorable scenes in season 3, especially with Sam Heughan; yet, we have a feeling that the best is still yet to come with Lord John.

This character’s victory in our poll was pretty sizable — Lord John took home over 64% of the vote total, significantly more than Young Ian in second place. We’re already interested in seeing what the reception is going to be to some new characters in season 4 — some may be very well-received, whereas others may be hated just because the purpose is to hate them.
