Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 14 video: Is Cassidy in trouble?
It doesn’t take much to understand why Dean Winters’ character is in hot water during this episode — he’s found with blood on his clothes and is accused of committing an especially-heinous murder. He claims that he didn’t do it, but much of the photographic evidence that is out there is going to suggest otherwise. The entire case is complicated for a couple of different reasons that CarterMatt has mapped out for you below:
1. It could further tension between Benson and Peter Stone – We already had a case in which Olivia wasn’t exactly keen on siding with the new Assistant District Attorney. Here, it could happen all over again.
2. Benson’s romantic history with Cassidy – There are of course going to be questions as to whether or not she can be totally partial, but that shouldn’t come as much of a shock. We also don’t think it will have that much of an impact. It’s not like this is the first-ever personal case that Olivia has taken on. She’s been around the block enough to know that sometimes she has to separate work from her personal life; also, it’s not like Benson and Cassidy are together now or were even together recently. That’s all far in the past!
We do think that this episode is going to be an important one both for establishing whether or not Cassidy is a character we see much of on SVU in the future, and beyond that also if there’s a chance to see the relationship between ADA Stone and Benson improve. It’s not altogether great if the two aren’t on the same page given that their communication is essential in order to put people behind bars for good.
