Once Upon a Time actor Josh Dallas cast in new NBC pilot
According to a new report coming in via Deadline, Dallas is going to be appearing on the NBC mystery drama pilot Manifest from The Mysteries of Laura executive producer Jeff Rake as well as Robert Zemeckis. The series revolves around a plane that disappears for five years, and with that everyone on board is presumed dead at sea. However, these characters all return and have to make sense of what their lives are like now. The series almost sounds like a mixture of LOST with Absentia, the new Amazon mystery drama starring Stana Katic.
Dallas’ character is tentatively named Ben Stone, and he is described as being a “type-A” intelligence analyst who has trouble handling a lot of elements that he cannot control. That’s going to be difficult for him within the world of this show given that there are many different things he can’t figure out — including a mysterious voice that is in his head or his son’s pediatric cancer. The reason we’re not sure that this name will stick is because Ben Stone is the name of a pretty iconic Law & Order character and it feels like that would cause a little bit of confusion.
Meanwhile, Melissa Roxburgh of Valor (certain to be canceled) will be appearing as Michaela, a woman struggling to figure out if she’s right as a police officer or as a fiancee after being gone for such an extended period of time. This series could prove interesting — if nothing else, it’ll be nice to see Dallas back on TV after seeing him play Prince Charming / David on the ABC fairy-tale drama for six years. He departed at the end of the sixth season and has yet to return for the seventh and final season. He’s also become increasingly private over the years, and no longer has much in the way of a social-media footprint.
