Celebrity Big Brother episode 5 review: The Veto winner, latest eviction

Celebrity Big Brother episode 5

Who was the Veto winner on Celebrity Big Brother episode 5, and who ended up being evicted? Both questions were going to be answered in what was a jam-packed hour of TV Monday night … at least in theory.

Through the first half-hour of the show, what we really got were reminders of some of the things that aren’t working about this season. For starters, the recaps seem incredibly long at the start of the episode as though production is using that to compensate for airing so many episodes a week. Also, the obsession that the producers seem to have at the moment with Omarosa is real. She is DOMINATING the airtime and if the other contestants all knew that they would get rid of her on the basis of that alone.

Veto Competition – Marissa Jaret Winokur, Shannon Elizabeth, and Ariadna Gutierrez all competed alongside Omarosa, Ross Mathews, and Keshia Knight Pulliam — this was a knockout-style competition that eventually Marissa won! That opened the door to a possible backdoor of Shannon if Marissa and Ross wanted to go through with it.

One surprise consequence of everything was that Marissa didn’t actually decide to make the move to backdoor Shannon — our feeling here is just that they didn’t have the guts to go through with this even though they had the means to do this. For now, this is probably smart — it’s still early and with Shannon gone, Ross suddenly becomes a much bigger target.

Eviction – Ugh at Keshia Knight Pulliam wanting out of the game, another reminder why we were so worried about this season of the show even before it aired.

Keshia left in a unanimous vote; good riddance for someone who didn’t care to be there. Her exit was noneventful but, for the most part, the same can be said for her game. She lasted a tiny bit longer than she did on The Celebrity Apprentice; through the years, the thing that has been made most clear here is that competitive reality shows just aren’t Keshia’s thing. She doesn’t have the drive for them and they’re absolutely not something that she’s particularly good at.

While we’re still not much of a fan of Omarosa’s outside of the game, she’s far better entertainment than Keshia. Also, it feels like CBS is loving some of the tea she is spilling on the Trump Administration.
