The Alienist episode 5 preview: What’s next for Moore & Sara?

The Alienist episode 5

Want to see what’s coming up on The Alienist episode 5? This episode is going to mark by the end of it the halfway point of the story, and with that, we imagine that some things are going to start to escalate. We mean this both in terms of the search for the killer and also some of what’s coming for the assorted characters in the story.

Below, the Alienist episode 5 synopsis does a good job giving you a good sense as to what is going to be coming story-wise:

The team learns more about the killer. Moore (Luke Evans) and Sara (Dakota Fanning) share an intimate moment. Kreizler (Daniel Brühl) seeks advice from an old mentor. Roosevelt (Brian Geraghty) takes action.

We don’t necessarily think that this is the most spoiler-filled synopsis ever, we really didn’t have to get a whole lot more than this to be excited about the story. We’re at the point in the show now where we’re invested enough in a mystery to keep following along without any details. These are just the icing on the cake for the time being.

How is The Alienist performing in the ratings for the time being?

To date, the series is averaging a solid 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and close to 1.9 million viewers — if these numbers hold for the remainder of the season, we do think that there is a reasonably good chance that the series comes back for another season. However, if these numbers start to slip, we’re suddenly going to be a little bit less confident.

While you can consider The Alienist season 1 at the moment a limited series if you so choose, there is still hope for it to be coming back for another season. This is one of those shows that could really function either way, and it’s mostly going to be up to the folks over at TNT to determine precisely what the future is going to be here. They probably won’t decide until we make it to the end of the season.
