Nashville season 6 ratings: Is it performing well in final season?

How is the performance of Nashville season 6 in the ratings? We know that the show is in its final season, but at the same exact time there’s still something fascinating in charting its performance and seeing whether or not more people are watching it because the end is near.

As it turns out, that hasn’t been the case. To date, the show is averaging a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, though barely — you have to round the numbers up to get it to that point. It’s technically down about 20% in the demo from season 5. Meanwhile, in total viewers it is averaging around 760,000, which is a little bit more of a manageable decline of just 7%.

After looking at some of these numbers, it is pretty darn clear that CMT made the right decision in opting to make this the final season. In announcing that early, what they effectively did was help to guarantee that the writers had time to put the perfect ending together and there wasn’t anywhere near the sort of drama around it that there could have been if the ending was rushed or if the series was canceled. Clearly, they saw that the numbers were charting downward and the longer the series lasted, the more expensive it would become.

We’ll continue to monitor the performance of Nashville in the weeks ahead, but note that there are two more episodes to air here in the winter. Following that, the series will go on a hiatus of several months before returning in the summer in order to properly wrap things up. We’ll have a chance to dive a little more into the end of the road for Nashville once we get to that point. We just hope that the numbers stay at least around where they are so it ends on a reasonably solid note.
