Will Matt Ryan return (again) to Legends of Tomorrow? There’s always a chance

Matt Ryan will be making his first significant appearance on Legends of Tomorrow Monday after previously turning up as John Constantine at the end of the most-recent midseason finale. There is a lot to be excited about with that, in between seeing him explore his history with Sara while also trying to get to the bottom of a super-mysterious exorcism.

Yet, at the end of the day there is still another interesting question to ponder — are we going to get another chance to see Constantine on the show beyond this? We’ve long advocated for either getting more of him here or also getting a full-fledged live-action series once more after it was previously canceled over at NBC. Between the two, we’re probably more for the latter given that Constantine’s abilities don’t necessarily lead to him him being altogether useful for some of the opponents we see the Legends squaring off against. He’s the best by far when taking on the occult and some of the weird/supernatural happenings in the universe.

For the time being, a return beyond Monday’s “Daddy Darhkest” remains unclear, but Ryan made it very clear to ComicBook.com that there is a chance that he could come back based on the way in which it ends:

“When [Darhk] was first mentioned in Arrow, there was obviously some connection between him and Johh … And then with everything that happens in this episode, it does leave the door open a bit. There is obviously some other kind of relationship that they’ve had or backstory that goes on between him and John, which there is potential to explore.”

This is an episode that should, if nothing else, offer up a little more insight into the hyper-mysterious Big Bad known as Mallus. If anyone may know a thing or two about this character, it is someone like Constantine who has an understanding of demons and the occult in a way that nobody else does. Seeing his knowledge come home to roost in this episode should be fun, and we’re equally excited to just see what the dynamic is like with him and Sara given the responsibility he has for restoring her to her former self.
