Stranger Things 3 episode count may surprise you

Here’s some news in regards to Stranger Things 3 that will inevitably cause some people to be rather upset — it appears that the upcoming batch of episodes for the Netflix series is going to be a little bit less than what some people want.

According to a new report from TVLine, the upcoming third season of the series is going to run just eight episodes — that is down one from the order from season 2, but right in line with what the show produced back via the first season. This is ultimately one of those seasons whose episode count is reasonably independent of any demands from the streaming provider — if Netflix had it its way in a perfect world, we imagine that the series would probably order it for about 300 episodes a year.

Yet, there are only so many episodes that the show can do that make sense when it comes to the overall story. Meanwhile, there are also only so many episodes that the Duffer Brothers can write and that the crew can make within the span of time given. Producing eight episodes of Stranger things is very different from doing eight episodes of a show like NCIS. There is a lot longer of a production process here that gets the story from point A to point B, and beyond that, there is also a longer post-production adding in all of the necessary visual effects.

Unfortunately, you’re going to be waiting for a long time to see Stranger Things 3 no matter the episode count. We don’t think that the third season is going to premiere until 2019 when you think about the amount of time that goes into making each season. There was already a wait of more than a year between the premiere of season 1 and the start of season 2.
