The Resident episode 5 preview: Nic closes in on Dr. Hunter’s oncology program
“Three concurrent surgeries at the hospital push its staff to the limits. Determined to ease the pressure, Nic requests Jude (guest star Warren Christie) for one of the operations, making Conrad jealous. Meanwhile, Dr. Lane Hunter sets out to discredit Nic’s claims, Devon struggles with a patient who has an embarrassing problem and a charitable contributor comes to the hospital wanting to donate a lot of money to Dr. Lane’s oncology program in the all-new “None the Wiser” episode of THE RESIDENT airing Monday, Feb. 26 (9:00–10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.”
For the last two episodes Nic has been suspicious of Dr. Lane Hunter’s oncology program after a regular chemo patient named Lily was released from the hospital despite her test results. Nic confronted Dr. Hunter, but was assured by her that Lily was well enough to go home. An episode later Lily was back and even worse than before. So Nic went to Dr. Hunter’s clinic to personally get Lily’s file and found the whole clinic to be suspicious. So what will happen now that Lily is back? Hopefully we will eventually see a true confrontation between Dr. Hunter and Nic.
What we love about this show is the fact that it gives it to us straight and it shows the true competitive nature of a hospital. It demonstrates that everyone works together to save the lives of their patients, but at the end of the day every doctor wants to be the best. However, one could say Dr. Conrad Hawkins is probably the only one who’s truly there for the patients. Last week he would have give up his career to help a friend and co-worker. And now it looks like Nic has the patients ahead of herself as well.
The darker, edger mood this medical drama brings is why I return every Monday to Fox so this storyline intrigues me along with a few others. For example, the Chief of Surgeon’s dangerous tremor which has caused numerous deaths or mishaps along Dr. Randolph Bell’s arrogant ego and Nic and Dr. Hawkins’s relationship.
Overall, we love this medical drama and can’t wait for it to return.
