Agents of SHIELD ‘ships: FitzSimmons voted readers’ favorite
After conducting a poll through some of our readers over this past week, we can at least say that CarterMatt readers have made their thoughts clear on the subject — and we’re not altogether surprised with the results.
With the vast majority of the overall vote, the ‘ship between Fitz and Simmons — otherwise known as FitzSimmons — has taken the title. They are the longest-lasting relationship on the show, and given their recent engagement you can almost consider this another gift. It’s a way to celebrate these two characters and the journey that they’ve had, while also looking a little bit forward now to whatever the future is going to hold for the two. We’re hoping that there are going to be some opportunities to see the two of them actually marry in the future, though we understand that there are often higher priorities and it’s probably not going to be happening within the near future.

Are there still some other great couples on the show? We are partial to Mack and Yo-Yo, and obviously Phil and Melinda are the characters we really want to see together in some capacity. Granted, we do also understand why the Agents of SHIELD writers are a little bit intent on keeping the show a fun, action-packed comic-book story. There’s a little bit of hesitation to make it into something too focused on romance and we do understand that when there are so many different things to focus on. If or when the writers do decide to make this move, though, we’re sure that they will find the proper way in order to make it happen.
For now, congratulations to all of the FitzSimmons fans out there! These two are one of the best TV couples out there for so many different reasons — the performances, their heart, and the devotion that they have to each other.
