Once Upon a Time season 7: What we know about Regina’s new love interest

Once Upon a Time season 7 premiere

Mrs. Carter: What are we starting to learn in regard to Roni / Regina’s new love interest on Once Upon a Time?

In the past, it was reported that this person is actually someone we’ve already met on the series — with that, there is no surprise casting coming on board that will drop any jaws. Beyond that, we also now know that there is already some established history there that dates back to earlier on in Roni’s life. We’re not going to necessarily see the beginnings of the relationship in some form on the show given that it was already established in the past.

For a little bit more insight on that, executive producer Adam Horowitz added the following to Entertainment Weekly:

“It’s hard to tease because the audience will react the way they react. We’re excited about the chemistry we’ve seen and the storytelling that grows out of this relationship we’re going to start to explore in the second half. We don’t really want to give away a lot about what it is right now. We think that it’s a lot of fun.”

While we of course didn’t want to see the relationship between Regina and Robin go away on the series in the past, the one thing that we’re really hoping for at this point in the run is just that Regina finds someone who is fun and doesn’t carry with them too much drama. She deserves the chance to have happiness in the same sort of way that Snow, Emma, and some other characters in the series do. She shouldn’t end up with someone who is going to cause her some element of pain, even if that’s not their overall intention.

Given the recent news that we are now in the final season of Once Upon a Time, time is now of the essence perhaps more so than it would have been otherwise. There are only so many episodes left in order to really get this story going and figure out just where it could wrap up.
